Precautions before moving a website to a new server
Updating latest releases is not an issue, it can be performed by anyone but the most important thing is to check the vulnerabilities before updating it. You should have a mirror site on some staging server to test the recent releases. Analyze it, make sure that no bug or layout disturbance came through the recently updated releases. Once you are sure then go live. A good developer supposed to be in practice of maintaining the blogs with respect to security and stability. If you are interested in subversion so you should have dedicated server or at least a good support hosting package in which they could help you to configure SVN. In fact, a normal shared hosting might will not be sufficient for this. For security and maintenance, must ask to your technical resource about the emergency situations and respective handling especially the backup plans he has in his mind or he is practicing. Because when everything is fine then a normal hosting will be a hero too but when security and other important things start compromising then nobody take responsibility even the big companies cover themselves with persuasive/ambiguous terms and conditions.
